Chloe Cook

In Night

A cricket sounds from my couch, the noise barely an itch.

My blanket is bubble wrap. Upward, a moon grips. Tomorrow

the sun will hold a lump in its throat. My fingers curl around swollen space

and wait as persimmons. At the crust of autumn sits a question:

can a marriage bend in water? Moon, I say, steal me next.
